How can a candidate receive so many proposals, when so many others have to send the same number of applications to get a single offer? Here we share with you our experience to achieve this and some essential hacks to get the job you dream of.
Adopting the right process:
Let's get to the heart of the matter. Business Developers know it: there are many similarities between looking for a job and being a Business Developer in which we train students at Akimbo. As in sales, it is recommended to break down your job search into stages (identify, apply, manage applications, pass interviews) to better control it. You will then have to ensure that all the steps of your Funnel are well filled in Leads and that you have the right tools and processes to convert.
#TIPS 1: The pace of applications to adopt
If the recommendations below apply to most jobs, adapt them to your situation. Once again at Akimbo, we favor learning-by-doing. We therefore strongly advise you to practice these techniques to better assimilate them.
Your future employer doesn't know it yet, but The first project he entrusts to you, it's about finding him and convincing him to hire you. Keep a steady pace of applications over time so as not to find yourself in the Death Valley and start from scratch.
Apply every day, especially when your first interviews are due. You will be much more confident and convincing in an interview if you have two more interviews in the same week.
💡 Adopt a daily routine : 1 hour of screening, 1 hour of sending applications, then carry out your side projects (reading, MOOCs, etc.).
#TIPS 2: Develop new skills WHILE looking for a job
In addition, being looking for a job is not only sending applications, it is also an opportunity to open this pound and to start a MOOC to understand blockchain or digital marketing. These are so many projects to add to your resume and that will attest to your interest in tech in interviews.

Example of using Trello with a 4-step funnel:
💡 An alternative is to follow your applications from a Google Sheet, starting from this Template. Save all your application files on it and write down the most important information, such as follow-up dates.
#TIPS 3: Learn to use your email box effectively
💡 Snooze: use this option once your application has been sent for follow-up. This option allows you to have an email come back to your inbox on a specific date. If you're not using the new Gmail, extensions free on the Internet also allow Snoozer.
💡 Respond to emails immediately, so (re) activate email notifications on your phone. Why? Initially a B2B sales technique, it has been proven that the faster you respond to an email, the more likely you are to get a response.
By adopting these techniques, you will regain control over your research and show your Tech culture to your future employer. You will now have to refine your resume and cover letter down to the smallest detail.
